MANZIP(8) BSD System Manager's Manual MANZIP(8)NAME
manzip - compress or uncompress man hierarchies
SYNOPSIS
manzip [-u] [-m path] [-M path] [-s subdirs]
DESCRIPTION
The manzip command compresses or uncompresses the specified (or default)
man hierarchies taking care to preserve symbolic and hard links correct-
ly.
By default, manzip will compress all man pages in the standard man path
(listed in the _default entry in man.conf(5)). If the user invoking
manzip has a MANPATH environment variable set, the default path is over-
ridden by the value of that variable.
The -M and -m flags may be used to override or augment the default man
path (similar to the man(1) command usage). If specified, path is a
colon separated list of directories.
By default, all subdirs listed in the _subdir line of the man.conf(5)
file are processed. The -s flag may be used to override the default
list. The specified substitute list may be colon or space separated.
The -u flag indicates the man hierarchies should be uncompressed rather
than compressed.
