sdiff - show differences between two text files, side-by-side
SYNOPSIS
sdiff [-aBbdHilstvW] [-I RE] [-o file] [-w columns] file1 file2
DESCRIPTION
The sdiff utility displays the differences between two files, in a side-
by-side format.
Using a single dash as a file argument causes sdiff to read standard in-
put instead of a file.
The following options are available:
-a Treat all files as text.
-B Ignore changes whose lines are all blank.
-b Ignore differences in trailing whitespace.
-d Try hard to find a minimal set of changes.
-H Assume large files and many scattered small changes.
-I Ignore changes whose lines all match the specified regular ex-
pression.
-i Ignore differences in case.
-l Output only the left column of common lines.
-o Operate interactively, sending the output to the specified file.
-s Do not output common lines.
-t Expand tabs to spaces in output.
-v Output version information.
-W Ignore all differences in whitespace.
-w Output at most the specified number of characters per line. The
default is 130 characters per line.
The sdiff utility exits 0 if no differences were found, 1 if some differ-
ences were found, and 2 if an error occurs.
