NAME
       malloc, calloc - memory allocators

SYS$CRETVA - Create virtual address space

EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX malloc and calloc functions are similar to the OpenVMS
SYS$CRETVA system service. The malloc system call will allocate the
specified amount of virtual memory for the calling process. The calloc
system call will allocate the number of bytes specified in the parameā€
ters and will also clear (zero out) the memory. The system determines
the location of the allocated memory. Memory allocated with malloc,
calloc, or realloc, must be freed with free.
