NAME
syslog - send message to system log

perror - write message explaining error

SYS$SNDERR - Send message to error logger

EXPLAINATION
The Digital UNIX syslog function is similar to the OpenVMS SYS$SNDERR
system service.	The syslog function will write an error message out to
the system error log daemon. The error log daemon then writes the mes‐
sage to the system log file. The syslog function requires that openlog
is called to open the connection to the daemon. The perror function
will write a simple ASCII string followed by the reason the last system
function failed (as described by the errno variable). The output is to
       the standard error channel.
