MZ(4) BSD Programmer's Manual MZ(4)NAMEmz - MegaHertz CC10BT/2 Ethernet Adapter (with/without XJack)
SYNOPSIS
mz0 at pcmcia?
DESCRIPTION
The mz interface is a PC Card device that provides access to a 10BASE-
T/Twisted Pair or 10BASE-2/BNC 10 Mb/s Ethernet network. The card may
come with or without an XJack connector.
The standard PC Card configuration mechanism is used, at boot time the
driver initializes for the possibility of an mz card being inserted (even
if one has not been inserted at boot time). Then when the card is insert-
ed a free IRQ is assigned and the physical hardware is initialized.
Each of the host's network addresses are specified at boot time with an
SIOCSIFADDR ioctl. The mz interface employs the address resolution pro-
tocol described in arp(4) to dynamically map between Internet and Ether-
net addresses on the local network.
MEDIA SELECTION
Media options available are listed and manipulated via standard options
to the ifconfig(8) command. On cards that support more than one media,
selection is performed by using ifconfig(8) to select the appropriate me-
dia for the cable that is being used.
